Central Leeward Warriors Reclaim Double Championship at NLA Schools Road Relay

The Central Leeward Secondary School Warriors reclaimed their dominance in schools athletics on Friday, November 1st, capturing both the Boys’ and Girls’ titles to once again be crowned “Double Champions” at the National Lotteries Authority (NLA) Inter Secondary Schools Road Relay.

The Warriors’ winning time in the boys’ race was 53:06.90s with the Georgetown Secondary School Gladiators finishing second in 53.39.20s. The St. Martin’s Secondary School Saints were third in 55:56.30s, ahead of The Lions of the St. Vincent Grammar School. The rest of the boys’ teams finished in the order of Canouan Secondary, Troumaca Ontario Secondary, Dr. J.P. Eustace Memorial, Sandy Bay Secondary, Bethel High School, Thomas Saunders, Bequia Seventh Day Adventist and Petit Bordel Secondary Schools.

Meanwhile, the Lady Warriors continued their dominance, retaining the top spot in 1:06:48.10s, ahead of the Girls’ High School in 1:13:17.90s in second, and the Lady Gladiators of Georgetown Secondary in third in 1:14:34.40s. Troumaca Ontario, Bethel High, Thomas Saunders, Petit Bordel, and Dr. J.P. Eustace Memorial Secondary School rounded out the girls’ field.

Points from the event, as well as the Cross Country, held previously, will go to the schools’ totals for the 2026 NLA Inter Secondary Schools Athletics Championships, slated for March.

In the current standings for the NLA Inter Secondary Schools Athletics Championships, Central Leeward Secondary School leads both divisions. In the Girls’ category, Central Leeward tops the table with 36 points, followed by the Girls’ High School with 28 points, and Troumaca Ontario Secondary with 22 points. Georgetown Secondary sits in fourth with 20 points, while Bethel High School rounds out the top five with 18 points. Thomas Saunders Secondary holds 8 points, West St. George Secondary has 6, and both St. Joseph’s Convent Kingstown and Petit Bordel Secondary are tied on 4 points. Dr. J.P. Eustace Memorial Secondary completes the list with 2 points.

In the Boys’ category, Central Leeward Secondary and Georgetown Secondary are tied at the top with 32 points each, followed by St. Martin’s secondary in third with 24 points, and the St. Vincent Grammar School in fourth with 20 points. Troumaca Ontario sits fifth with 10 points, while Canouan Secondary and Thomas Saunders Secondary share sixth place with 8 points each. Dr. J.P. Eustace Memorial Secondary holds 4 points, and both Bethel High School and Sandy Bay Secondary are tied at the bottom with 2 points apiece.
