Guyanese Cop Charged With Murdering Teen


CaribWorldNews, GEORGETOWN, Guyana, Tues. June 29, 2010: A Guyanese police officer has been slapped with a first-degree murder charge in the killing of a high school teen.

Officer Quancy John was yesterday charged with shooting Kelvin Fraser, 16, to death after responding to a report about a group of students making trouble outside a high school at Patentia on the West Coast of Demerara.

Authorities say the teenager was shot in the back as he and other students ran away from the police patrol.  A judge on Monday ordered John jailed.
