At the third annual KFC Kite Flying Competition, a kite redesigned and flown as a tribute to Guyana’s Adrianna Younge received a special prize.

The 3rd annual KFC Kite Flying competition took place on Sunday, 27 April, at the tarmac of the decommissioned E.T. Joshua Airport in Arnos Vale, St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).

The kite, flown by youngster Brandon Cozier of Dorsetshire Hill/Belair, bore the inscription, “S.I.P Soar in Paradise, Adrianna Younge – Guyana. We mourn with you”.

Both Brandon and his father Gary said the Guyana flag-themed kite thy have been flying for five years now, was this year redesigned as a way of standing in solitary with the people in Guyana who mourned Adrianna’s mysterious death.

Mr Cozier was awarded a special prize for his tribute, as well as the title of Best Under-20 Kiter.

In the latest update, an autopsy conducted on Adrianna Younge, the 11-year-old whose body was found in a hotel pool under mysterious circumstances in Guyana on Thursday, 24 April 2025, revealed that she died by drowning.

Investigators are working to determine how she drowned.

The discovery of her body after she was reported missing sent shockwaves throughout the South American CARICOM nation.

Guyana‘s Department of Public Information posted Tuesday that President Ali, during an April 28 press conference, posited that Adrianna Younge’s passing should serve as a reminder of our ability to unite when it matters most.
