With an electrifying performance and near-total command of the audience, Princess Alexcia ‘Lexi’ Deshong of Sandy Bay Secondary School won the 2025 National Junior Soca Monarch title.
At the event held at Victoria Park tonight (July 1), Lexi, aged 12, outperformed eight other competitors with her song “Litty Litty” to secure the competition’s top prize.
The Georgetown resident, who has been making waves nationally with her music, is also a reserve in this year’s National Soca Monarch competition.
She scored a total of 414 points.
She also placed third in the Secondary School Calypso Monarch.
In second position is in the National Junior Soca Monarch was Kyron Adams of the Sandy Bay Secondary School with “Van man”. He amassed 356 points.
With 347 points, third position was taken by Jelani Sandy of the Dr. J.P Eustace Secondary with “Crown City”.
The other finalists were Malique John of the Sandy Bay Secondary School with “Bad Temper,” Joel Mason of the Dr. J.P. Eustace
Secondary with “When we reach,” Lylanie “Singing Lylie” Bascombe of the Greiggs Primary School with “Granny in de Party,” Shakira Johnson of the Greiggs Primary School with “It’s not a normal fete,” Colin Jr. Small of the Sandy Bay Secondary School with “Water truck,” and Elza “Princess Ruff” Cruikshank of the South Rivers Methodist with “Soca Beast”
