Obama spends rare night at home, eager to putter


CHICAGO — All President Barack Obama wanted to do was go home. No, not to the fancy government house in Washington. He wanted the familiar bed at his Kenwood/Hyde Park house in Chicago. The comfy chair. Maybe watch some ESPN. Chill. “I am sleeping in my bed tonight,” he told a group of fellow Chicagoans at a fundraiser Friday evening. “I’m going to go into my kitchen. I might cook something for myself, putter around in the backyard a little bit.” Can’t blame him, not after a day like Friday. Not with a jobs report that could put his own job in jeopardy. So there he will be, home alone, with his own thoughts and a security detail, puttering. His wife, Michelle, and his two daughters…
