Puerto Rican Man Sentenced Jailed For Child Porn

News Americas, SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, Weds. Mar. 2, 2011: A 48-year-old Puerto Rican man will spend the next 25 years in jail for production of child pornography.

Joseph Acevedo-Maldonado of Utuado, Puerto Rico, was jailed less than a year after was found guilty on July 8, 2010 by a jury of child pornography.

He also faces 20 years of supervised release. His arrest came following an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations.

ICE HSI agents arrested Acevedo-Maldonado and his wife, Jennise Lopez-Correa, on July 13, 2009 after a federal grand jury returned an indictment on July 9, 2009 charging the couple with production of child pornography. The couple had been previously arrested by the Puerto Rico Police Department for the sexual assault of a female minor.

The ICE HSI investigation revealed that Acevedo-Maldonado’s computer contained videos involving minors engaging in sexual acts with him in the presence Lopez-Correa. The investigation further revealed that the videos were produced with the assistance of Lopez-Correa.

On Jan. 22, 2010, Lopez-Correa pleaded guilty to all counts of the indictment and was sentenced to time served and 30 years of supervised release.
