A businesswoman operating just outside the entrance to Argyle International Airport (AIA) has regained access to her usual business location with support from the Prime Minister.
Janella Charles, who became a trending topic on Friday, was highlighted by Andrew John, the opposition candidate for South Windward. Mr. John alleged that officials from the Physical Planning Department had disrupted her business operations.
In a Facebook post, Mr. John stated: “Business woman looks on helplessly while Planning accompanied by the police pulls down her tent.”
On Saturday, Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves addressed the matter in a post on his official Facebook page, saying:

“My friend Janel Charles and I just spoke and she will be selling at her usual spot at AIA gap today! I will always defend my comrades! The 1st $500 drinks are on me!”
Ms. Janella Charles, a local entrepreneur whose Facebook profile account is named Janel Charles, sells food and cold drinks in the area.
It is not clear if the erection of Charles’ tent was in violation of the Physical Planning Act, but recently, authorities carried out a clean-up operation in the vicinity and installed signage for the airport.
We will bring any relevant updates to this story once there are any newsworthy developments in relation to the Physical Planning Unit and local politicians in the airport area.
