ULP to Host Mass Rally Tonight (Oct 28) as Election Date Anticipation Grows

By Admin. Updated 2:17 p.m., Tuesday, 28 October 2025, Atlantic Standard Time (GMT-4).
The ruling Unity Labour Party (ULP) is set to host a mass rally tonight, 28 October, amid growing anticipation surrounding the announcement of the date for the next general election.
The forthcoming general election is expected to take place before the end of the year, but is constitutionally due by February 2026.
Tonight’s event, dubbed the Labour Strong Rally, will be held at Richmond Hill Playing Field in Kingstown and will commence at 7:00 p.m.
The rally will feature a combination of speeches and entertainment.
It is unclear whether the election date will be announced tonight. In the past, the Prime Minister has first prepared his supporters, then instructed them to be ready, and only at a subsequent rally announced the election date. He described a rally held at Layou two weeks ago as a pre-campaign event, signaling that we might not fully be in the election campaign season just yet.
Speeches at tonight’s event will be delivered by the political leader of the ULP and Prime Minister, Dr Ralph Gonsalves; ULP candidate for East Kingstown, Luke Browne; and ULP candidates Marvin Fraser, Saboto Caesar, Keisal Peters, and Dr Grace Walters.
Entertainment will be provided by Firman Hooper, Jamesey P, Luta and Hance John.
Transportation from various constituencies will be provided free of charge.
The ULP is seeking a sixth consecutive five-year term in office. Its main challenger is the opposition New Democratic Party (NDP). In the 2020 general election, the ULP won nine of the 15 parliamentary seats, while the NDP secured six.
St Vincent and the Grenadines uses the First Past the Post system, meaning the party with the most seats, not necessarily the most overall votes, wins the general election.
