UPDATE: Police say no evidence of foul play in Lowmans Windward resident’s death

The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) said Saturday there was evidence of no foul play in the death of Mr. Mechir Young of Lowmans Windward.

The body of Mr. Mechir Young, a 48-year-old laborer of Lowmans Windward, was discovered in an advanced state of decomposition at his residence on April 30, 2025.

A post-mortem examination conducted on May 2, 2025, concluded that Mr. Young died from aspiration pneumonitis.

At this stage, there is no evidence to suggest foul play. Investigations remain ongoing.

The RSVGPF extends condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. Persons with information that may assist are encouraged to contact Police Control at 457-1211 or the Criminal Investigations Department/Major Crimes Unit at 456-1810.

POLICE INVESTIGATE HOUSE FIRE IN ROSE PLACE

The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) is investigating the circumstances surrounding a house fire that occurred in Rose Place, Kingstown, in the vicinity of the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.

On Thursday, May 1, 2025, police received a report of a house fire in the area. The Fire Brigade was immediately alerted and responded promptly to the scene. Upon arrival, firefighters met a one-bedroom wooden and board structure measuring approximately 10 x 15 feet engulfed in flames.

The structure and its contents were completely destroyed. Additionally, the staircase leading to the upper floor of a nearby two-storey building sustained damage due to the fire.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
