Man charged with dishonestly obtaining EC $3,400 from a 13-year-old student

Police say an apprentice from Barrouallie has been charged with five (5) counts of Deception related to obtaining money from a student.

In an October 18 press release, the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) said; “Police arrested and charged Teddie Isaacs, a 23-year-old Labourer of Barrouallie with five (5) counts of Deception on October 16.”

“Investigations revealed that the accused dishonestly obtained a total of EC $3,400.00 from a 13-year-old student of Barrouallie, with the intention of permanently depriving her of it,” Police said.

Due to ethical concerns and regulations that guide the coverage of minors, we are unable to identify the student.

Police said the offences were committed in Barrouallie between March 23, 2024, and March 27, 2024.

Isaacs appeared before the Layou Magistrate Court on October 17, 2024, and pleaded not guilty to the charges, police said.

“He was granted bail in the sum of $3,500.00 ECC with one surety, and the matter was adjourned and transferred to the Barrouallie Magistrate Court on October 23, 2024,” police said.

Meanwhile, Police said they arrested and charged Don Ashton, a 47-year-old Labourer of Paul’s Avenue with the offence of Burglary with Intent on October 16.

According to the investigation, the accused unlawfully entered the dwelling house of a 42-year-old Foreman of Paul’s Avenue as a trespasser with the intent to commit the offence of theft, police said.

Police said the offence was committed on October 16, 2024, on Paul’s Avenue. Ashton appeared before the Kingstown Magistrate Court on October 17, 2024, and pleaded guilty to the charge.

He was remanded in custody until Monday, October 21, 2024, for sentencing.
