Cultural Ambassador hands over $15,000 worth of supplies to Mat B Ward at MCMH

Cultural Ambassador and Violinist Darron Andrews, yesterday, October 31st, handed over approximately $15,000 worth of supplies to mothers affected by Hurricane Beryl and the Maternity B Ward at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.
The donated items are the fulfillment of a promise to use proceeds from his landmark show – Love Notes to support mothers on the ward.
This is the second time Mr. Andrews has donated proceeds from the annual show to the ward.
From last year’s show, some $7,000 worth of supplies were donated to the ward.
This year, the show Love Notes : Love and Laughter show was held on August 3rd at the Victoria Park.
The show featured Darron Andrews and Jamaican comedian Dr. Oliver Samuels and other local and international musicians.
Mr. Andrews told One News SVG why he continues to support the Maternity B Ward.
“As a cultural ambassador and Vincentian I’m dedicated to serving the people that need me the most, the strength of a mother is admirable and without my mother I don’t know where I would have been today.”
“So we start here and we stand in support of the nurturers and will continue to do as long as we can. Support the mothers and by extension, you support the nation,” he added.
Some of the donated items include “Pamper swaddles, Socks, Booties, Baby shoes for boys and girls, Rags, Burping cloths, Bibs, Premie diapers,, Baby bottles, Onesies, Baby bags, Toothpaste, Soap, Water, Grooming kits, Wipes, Blankets, Detergent, Microwave, Bath towels, and the like,” Mr. Andrews said.
He also expressed gratitude to patrons, sponsors and other supporters of the show.
