MV Gem Star 2 says sorry for “unfortunate” boat incident as more help draws near
By Admin. Updated 11:22 p.m., Sunday, December 15, 2024, Atlantic Standard Time (GMT-4).
The MV Gem Star 2 has issued an apology via its Facebook page regarding the incident involving its marine vessel which is currently adrift near Mayreau with numerous people on board.
Today, December 15, the vessel facilitated an annual excursion from Canouan to Carriacou in the Southern Grenadines and was returning to Canouan when it encountered some difficulties.
Many passengers onboard the vessel and their relatives on land contacted One News SVG earlier tonight about the matter. We contacted the SVG Coast Guard to confirm the incident and then broke the story.
In its most recent post, the company’s Facebook page posted, “Let’s keep praying. Thank you for reaching out”.
“As promised, here is another update. The Coast Guard is now along side the M.V. Gem Star. Thank you to those responsible for sending the Coast Guard out so our customers and crew can feel a bit safer. Thanks to the men of the Coast Guard for braving the seas at this hour. We appreciate you.”
“We are awaiting the arrival of the tug. The tug is about one hour and fifteen minutes away from the Vessel.”
“We know it’s late and dark and we are so very sorry for this unfortunate experience with us. You know how much Uncle Gussie loves all his customers. He is very saddened by this incident. Let’s keep those on board in your prayers. We will update your further once the tug arrives.”
“We continue praying for everyone’s safety.💕🙏,” the post added.
Meanwhile, people onboard the vessel have told us they are okay, but many are frustrated.
The SVG Coast Guard has urged everyone to remain calm.
One News SVG will continue to provide relevant updates on the situation.
