KFC St. Vincent has issued a statement regarding a viral video which showed an altercation between young people in the Kingstown restaurant.
Reports are that rivaling youths had an altercation in Kingstown on February 13, and they ended up inside the fast food restaurant where things heated up again and turned into a brawl.
In a February 14 official statement, KFC St. Vincent said: “We are aware of a video currently circulating online showing an altercation that occurred at one of our restaurant locations.”
“KFC St. Vincent does not tolerate violence, disruptive behavior, or any conduct that compromises the safety and comfort of our guests and team members,” the company said.
“Our restaurants are intended to be safe and welcoming spaces for the entire community. The matter is currently under investigation by the police, and we are fully cooperating. We have also requested increased patrols in the vicinity as an added precaution,” the company said in the statement.
KFC said, “The incident is being addressed internally in accordance with our company policies. We appreciate the concern expressed by members of the public and remain committed to maintaining a respectful and secure environment for everyone who visits us”.
The incident at KFC was one of several involving rivaling youths on February 13, scows of youths on the streets involved in violent behaviour was recorded including at Stoney Ground (Massy Car Park) and North River Road.
The cause of the behaviour of the young people involved is not clear.
