Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Security St. Clair Leacock said the officers of the Barrouallie Police Station will assume operations at their new location by the second week of April.
In an interview with the Agency of Public Information on March 30, 2026, Minister Leacock said he was pleased with the rehabilitative work done to the resource centre to accommodate the officers.
“Central Leeward now needs a very strong police station, police force at a time when they are being tested and challenged and this would help the morale of the police officers, generally speaking, I think there’s going to be some fine-tuning that would be necessary…by all means get in there, get out of the rented accommodations, save money ….and provide more effective policing” Minister Leacock said.

The Deputy Prime Minister also said that it is the vision of his Ministry to establish a specialised unit of skilled officers within the police force to ensure ongoing maintenance of facilities.
“..We get some fit for purpose police officers out of the current set of recruits, masons, carpenters, electricians, artisans, plumbers…it is still my desire to get that unit in the police force up to as much as a full platoon, that is, as many as 30, because I really don’t want to hear, this, that or other could not be repaired in the police force and that maintenance remains a problem,” Minister Leacock stressed.
The Minister, along with Commissioner of Police Enville Williams, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of National Security LouAnn Thomas, and other senior members of the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force and officials from the Ministry of National Security visited the facility on March 30, 2026.
