St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) finished third at the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Championships, ending the two-day competition with 134 points and a total of nine medals.
The championships, held at the Kim Collins National Stadium in Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis, on July 4 and 5, saw the Vincentian team claim two gold, five silver and two bronze medals, according to a release from Team Athletics St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Romaul James led the medal haul with a gold medal in the men’s triple jump after recording a winning distance of 15.16 metres. He also secured silver in the men’s long jump with a leap of 7.33 metres.
Kesian John captured the country’s second gold medal after winning the women’s 800 metres in a personal best time of 2 minutes 23.27 seconds.

Silver medals also came from J’aivar Cato in the men’s triple jump (14.92m), Brinesha Derrick-Bain in the women’s 100m hurdles (13.91s), Handal Roban in the men’s 400m (46.59s), and the men’s 4x100m relay team of Jmar Saunders, Kyle Lawrence, Ajay Delpesche and Keo Davis, who finished second in 40.07 seconds.
Reine Browne earned bronze in the women’s 100m hurdles in 14.32 seconds, while McKish Compton claimed bronze in the men’s 100m after clocking 10.41 seconds.
Elsewhere, Teia Laborde finished fourth in the women’s 200m and sixth in the 100m. Zekisha Kelly placed seventh in both the women’s 200m and 400m, while Ajay Delpesche finished sixth in the men’s 200m.
Kelly, Davis, Laborde and Delpesche also combined to place fourth in the mixed 4x400m relay.
