3 Vincentians get university education funding from Mustique Charitable Trust

Three Vincentian students have received financial support to pursue higher education at the University of the West Indies (UWI) under the Mustique Charitable Foundation’s annual bursary programme.

The bursaries were presented during the Foundation’s annual Bursary Award Ceremony, held at the UWI Global Campus on Friday, September 11.

This year’s recipients are Roella Bynoe, who will pursue a Bachelor of Science in Banking and Finance; Michael Williams, who will study for a Bachelor of Science in Marketing; and Malissa Barrow, who is enrolled in a Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Development and Family Studies.

According to information provided by the Agency for PublicInformation (API), the bursaries will cover up to 60 per cent of each student’s tuition costs and will remain in place for the full duration of their studies.

In addition to the financial assistance, each recipient was presented with a laptop to support their academic work and participation in online classes.

The bursary programme forms part of the Mustique Charitable Foundation’s efforts to expand educational opportunities for Vincentians pursuing tertiary-level studies.

The Foundation, which operates as the philanthropic arm of the Mustique community, has supported a range of initiatives in St Vincent and the Grenadines over the years, including education, healthcare, youth development and community projects.

Through its scholarship and bursary programmes, the organisation has assisted students in accessing educational opportunities that might otherwise be financially challenging.

Education remains one of the Foundation’s key areas of focus, with support aimed at helping students develop skills and qualifications that can contribute to national development.
