St. Vincent and the Grenadines is showcasing its tourism, culture and locally made products on the international stage as the only English-speaking Caribbean nation participating in the 2026 World Island Exhibition in Yeosu, South Korea.
The exhibition, which is being held under the theme “Islands: Connecting the Ocean and the Future”, opened earlier this month and runs until November 4. The Vincentian delegation arrived in Yeosu on October 5.
Representing the country are Angenella Young, Export Marketing and Promotions Coordinator at Invest SVG; Asif Bailey, Content Creator and Graphic Designer at Invest SVG; and Saflana John, Administrative Officer II in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Foreign Investment and Diaspora Affairs.
According to Invest SVG, participation in the exhibition provides an opportunity to raise the country’s international profile, promote its tourism industry and highlight its cultural heritage while engaging with other island nations from Asia and Africa.
Acting Director of Invest SVG, Nadine Agard-Juillerat, described the country’s presence at the exhibition as a significant milestone.
“Being the only Caribbean island at the World Island Exhibition is a proud moment for St. Vincent and the Grenadines,” she said.
Agard-Juillerat added that the event offers an opportunity to showcase the country’s natural beauty, culture and locally produced goods while encouraging visitors to view St. Vincent and the Grenadines as a destination for tourism, trade and investment.
The Vincentian pavilion is also serving as a platform for local entrepreneurs. Invest SVG has featured products from Jazzy All Naturals, Kong Art Creationz, Rocks n Roses, Peta Odini, Calvert Jones and SVG Teas, giving the businesses exposure to an international audience.
The agency said strong interest from visitors has reinforced the potential for expanding export opportunities for Vincentian products, aligning with its mandate to promote both investment and export development.
Technology is also playing a central role in the country’s presentation. Visitors can experience virtual tours of St. Vincent and the Grenadines through virtual reality headsets, while carnival costumes provided by Mirage Productions offer a colourful display of Vincentian culture.
The exhibition has also created opportunities beyond tourism promotion. While in South Korea, the Invest SVG delegation facilitated media sponsorship for St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ Robotics Team competing at the 2026 FIRST Global Challenge, helping to increase international visibility for the country’s young innovators.
Invest SVG said its participation reflects the Government’s continued efforts to position St. Vincent and the Grenadines as an attractive destination for visitors, investors and international business while strengthening awareness of Vincentian products and culture in overseas markets.
