The devastation caused by Hurricane Beryl in July 2024 led to the closure of numerous businesses and significant job losses throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines. However, this crisis also served as the catalyst for the establishment of Labour Market Solutions (LMS).

“The inception of Labour Market Solutions (LMS) is rooted in a community meeting held in Diamond Village, where recovery efforts for the Southern Grenadines were discussed,” the Founder of LMS Mr. Alexis Pompey told One News SVG.

“A young attendee’s suggestion to organize a group of workers to aid these efforts sparked a realization for me. Seeing the success in mobilizing 85 workers, I recognized the potential for a business that bridges the gap between job seekers and employers,” Mr. Pompey added.

The 28-year-old entrepreneur said Labour Market Solutions (LMS) was founded with a vision to bridge the gap between skilled professionals and businesses in need of their expertise. The idea for the company was born out of a desire to address the challenges faced by both job seekers and employers in accessing meaningful opportunities and talent on a global scale.

“Recognizing the inefficiencies in traditional hiring methods and the untapped potential of individuals seeking work, I started Labour Market Solutions to create a platform that fosters connection, growth, and opportunity. Driven by a passion for empowering individuals and strengthening businesses, this company is dedicated to transforming the job market into a space where everyone has a chance to thrive,” the entrepreneur said.

Commencing operations on July 29, 2024, the company simplifies the hiring process by offering professional sourcing and screening services, ensuring businesses find skilled, dependable, and hardworking candidates. The services for employers are available to those hiring locally or globally.

For Job Seekers, the company opens doors to opportunities by matching individuals with job positions suited to their skills and aspirations. We aim to empower job seekers and foster career growth.

Mr. Pompey who is also a musician , personal trainer and fitness instructor, and the Founder of Transform Fitness SVG said he plans to expand the business this year with the public’s support.

Even though there are difficulties involved with running a business, Mr. Pompey said he is determined to shape the job market in SVG and beyond. In fact, one of his favourite quotes is “Smooth seas do not make skillful sailors”.

During the short interview, Mr. Pompey also left some advice for job seekers which include applying consistency, having an up-to-date CV, considering internships or entry-level roles, and setting clear goals.

“Apply Consistently: Treat job searching like a job itself; dedicate time daily to research and apply for roles, and always have an up to date CV or resume,” he said.

“Consider Internships or Entry-Level Roles: They provide valuable experience and can lead to full-time positions, he further stated, adding to the list of successfully job seeking the criterion: Set Clear Goals. Setting clear goals he said involves defining “what you want from a job—whether it’s growth, stability, or experience”.
