Argyle International Airport Inc., the company responsible for managing Argyle International Airport (AIA), has stated that the airport was not downgraded.

In a statement posted on its official Facebook page on 9 December, AIA Inc. said:

“Kindly note that the Argyle International Airport was not downgraded by the FAA.”

The FAA refers to the Federal Aviation Administration, a U.S.-based body that regulates civil aviation, including air traffic control, aircraft certification, pilot licensing, airport standards, and safety enforcement.

“AIA took a precautionary decision to temporarily limit the operating weight of aircraft using the runway on Sunday, 7 December 2025, to allow repair works to be conducted,” the statement said.

“Following the successful completion of these works, normal runway operations were fully restored on Monday, 8 December 2025,” the airport added.

Earlier reports in the media suggested that the airport had been temporarily downgraded due to safety concerns regarding the condition of parts of the runway.

AIA began operations on 14 February 2017 and currently accommodates flights from North America, the United Kingdom, and the Caribbean.
