Police have confirmed that they have responded to reports that a tourist died this afternoon (January 18) aboard a ferry that returned to the mainland from the Grenadines.
Reports are that the person fell and hit their head, but we cannot confirm those reports at this time. The identity of the deceased has not yet been revealed.
The person reportedly came to SVG today (January 18) on the cruise ship that is currently docked at the Kingstown Cruise Terminal. They then took a chartered ferry to the Grenadines to enjoy the day and returned.
The bizarre incident has left travellers at the wharf in shock.

Police are currently processing the scene at the Grenadines Wharf in Kingstown. An ambulance came and then representatives from a funeral home came.

In January 2024, a German national Matthias Thormaehlen, 53, a visitor to SVG died after complaining of chest pains.
While Mr. Thormaehlen and a group were cycling through the Sion Hill/Casson Hill area, Thormaehlen was reportedly complaining about chest pains and then passed out.
He was transported to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
In March 2025, another tourist died in a suspected drowning incident at Chatham Bay, Union Island, days after a German tourist drowned at Mount Wynne area.
