Brunch and Soca to exit Vincy Mas calendar after eight years as promoter launches new tourism event

One of St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ best-known all-inclusive carnival events, Brunch and Soca, will stage its final edition during Vincy Mas this year as organisers prepare to move the brand to a new tourism-focused event outside the carnival season.
Promoter Jonell “Hova” Goodluck said the decision does not signal the end of Brunch and Soca but marks what he described as a strategic shift into a new event concept called “Vincy Escape Weekend”, scheduled to launch in November 2027.
Speaking in an interview with One News SVG, Goodluck stressed that the move was not driven by disagreements with patrons or the Carnival Development Corporation (CDC), adding that public support had played a major role in the event’s growth.
Brunch and Soca began in St. Vincent in 2018 and was created after Goodluck adapted a brunch concept he had developed while living in New York. He said the event was initially launched locally with the aim of establishing a unique carnival experience.
According to Goodluck, the event expanded beyond St. Vincent after several years and has since grown into an international brand with editions held in destinations including Trinidad and Dubai. He said the brand now attracts travelling audiences and international recognition.
Despite the expansion, he said St. Vincent remained central to the brand.
“Home is home,” he said.

Goodluck said the decision to move the event out of carnival season followed months of planning and forms part of a wider ambition to create a destination-style event capable of attracting international visitors to St. Vincent outside the traditional festival period.
He said Vincy Escape Weekend is being designed as a multi-day experience intended to draw visitors from around the world and place St. Vincent alongside destination weekends already established elsewhere in the Caribbean.
Brunch and Soca is expected to remain part of the new November event.
Alongside entertainment, Goodluck also pointed to the event’s charitable work through the Brunch and Soca School Foundation.
He said the initiative, launched in 2022, was created to support students entering secondary school and has funded educational assistance for children in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. He estimated that approximately US$11,000 has been directed locally through the programme since it began.
Goodluck said the focus on education reflects a long-standing belief in helping young people access opportunities and improve their future prospects.
He said this year’s edition of Brunch and Soca during Vincy Mas would be the last under its current carnival format but not the last for the brand itself.
“This is not stopping Brunch and Soca,” he said. “We’re moving it.”
The event has also gained regional industry recognition. Goodluck said Brunch and Soca has been nominated for Music Event of the Year at the Caribbean Music Awards for a third consecutive year, describing the recognition as evidence of the brand’s consistency and growing international profile.
