Dr. Kishore Shallow, President of Cricket West Indies (CWI), has confirmed that he will complete his current term at the helm of the regional cricket body but will not seek re‑election. The announcement follows his recent election to the House of Assembly of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and appointment as Minister of Tourism and Maritime Affairs.
Dr. Shallow, who assumed the presidency of CWI in 2023, emphasized that his decision reflects a commitment to steady leadership and completing the governance reforms already underway. “The work ahead requires focus and continuity. I will conclude my current term but with the intention not to seek re‑election,” he stated.
Dr. Shallow acknowledged concerns about balancing his ministerial responsibilities with his presidency of CWI. He clarified that the presidency is not a salaried role and is supported by an experienced executive team led by CEO Chris Dehring and more than 50 full‑time staff.
He further emphasized that comprehensive due diligence was undertaken to ensure all legal and ethical implications were addressed, confirming that there is no conflict of interest in holding both positions.
“West Indies cricket has never been a one‑man operation. It is a shared responsibility. My appointment to cabinet provides an avenue for collaboration between governments and cricket administration without being invasive,” Shallow noted.
Dr. Shallow pledged to use the remainder of his term to complete reforms and support the implementation of CWI’s strategic plan through 2027. He urged unity across the region, warning against divisive voices at a time when collective purpose is essential.
