The Electrical Inspectorate Division has introduced a new digital platform that allows 24/7 online applications for electrical licences and inspection services, in a move aimed at modernising operations and improving efficiency, accessibility, and service delivery nationwide.

The Electrical Inspectorate Management Information System (EIMIS) is designed to streamline the application process for wiremen’s licences, renewals, and electrical inspection requests, reducing the need for in-person visits and paper-based submissions.

Speaking on the new system, Officer within the Electrical Inspectorate Division under the Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure and Physical Planning (MTIPP), Leron France, said the platform represents a significant step forward in improving how services are delivered to the public.

He explained that the system allows electricians, contractors, homeowners, and business owners to submit applications online at any time, track the progress of their applications from start to finish, and receive updates on when certificates are ready for collection.

According to France, the platform also introduces online payment options and is expected to significantly reduce processing times while improving transparency in the inspection and licensing process.

He noted that one of the key benefits of the system is convenience, particularly for persons living in rural or remote areas who would otherwise have to travel long distances to access services in person.

“For example, someone living in Fancy or on the leeward side of Chateaubelair would normally have to travel to town to submit an application. Now, this can be done online in a matter of minutes,” he said.

However, France acknowledged that some users may face challenges due to limited computer literacy. He said the division has put measures in place to ensure accessibility, including allowing applicants to receive assistance from more computer-literate individuals.

He added that support is also available at the department, where a dedicated computer and staff are on hand to assist members of the public who need help completing their applications.

Members of the public can also contact the Electrical Inspectorate Division via telephone or WhatsApp at 492-7642 or 456-2563 for assistance.

The new system integrates all major regulatory processes, including applications for wiremen’s licences, renewal forms, electrical installation notifications, inspection requests, and defect notices issued when installations fail to meet required electrical standards under the laws of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Officials say the introduction of the EIMS platform marks a major step in the digitisation of public services and is expected to improve accountability, efficiency, and compliance within the electrical sector, while supporting safer electrical installations across the country.

The Electrical Inspectorate Division says it remains committed to enhancing service delivery and ensuring a more user-friendly and transparent system for all stakeholders moving forward.
