Jamaican Global Track Star Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce to Bring All-Star Team to SVG

One of the greatest sprinters in history, Jamaican Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, has confirmed she will bring an All Star 6-A-Side football team to St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) in April for friendly matches.

Fraser-Pryce, the only sprinter to win five world titles in the 100 m (2009, 2013, 2015, 2019, and 2022), will, through her Pocket Rocket Foundation, bring a 6-A-Side football team from Jamaica for matches from April 10 to 12, 2026.

The first match will be held at Independence Park on Friday, April 10 while the second match will be held at the Chili Playing Field in Georgetown on April 12.

She is visiting under a special invitation from Awesome Sports International, led by renowned Vincentian former national footballer Mr Renson Haynes.

Mr Haynes told One News SVG that, in hosting Mrs Fraser-Pryce, he will collaborate with the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines through the Ministry of Sports.

At a recent event in Jamaica, Fraser-Pryce told Jamaican media that the All Star team representing Jamaica in SVG in April comprises 13 players and two coaches, selected from her Pocket Rocket Foundation’s Six-A-Side football competition.

“I think the young men are excited and this is what we want, this is what we are working towards, the development and the exposure, and I hope this will motivate the players to come next year to do what they do, to play competitively,” she said at the ceremony event where JMD $300,000 was awarded to the all Star team.

Fraser-Pryce also signalled that the sports and youth development initiative her foundation is sponsoring aims to keep youths positive and out of trouble. She said: “…in this community we want to make sure that there is no crime and violence, we want to understand that we are giving the young men an opportunity.”

Vincentian Mr Haynes, who is currently in Jamaica, expressed his excitement and said more details about the April 2026 events will be announced soon.
