The National Parks, Rivers and Beaches Authority (NPRBA) announced today (December 16) that the lLa Soufrière Windward Trail has been reopened.
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused during the closure and extend our heartfelt thanks for your patience, understanding, and continued support,” the state-owned body said.
The trail was closed since the 2021 eruptions of the La Soufriere volcano.
Ashfall for the eruptions extensively damaged the buildings and huts at Bamboo Range and caused severe damage to the trail.
Since then, restorative works have been conducted on the trail to make it safe, but periods of heavy rainfall often undid some of the works.
Additionally, the passage of Hurricane Beryl on July 1, 2024, had an impact on the trail.
