Imagine walking down the street and being struck by a vehicle while 38 weeks pregnant with twins. This is exactly what Britney Weeks, 34, has endured.
On Thursday, December 19, Ms. Weeks from Campden Park and Belmont was walking along Bay Street when she was hit by a vehicle that reportedly did not stop.
Now, exactly 14 days later, Ms. Weeks is still suffering from a fractured leg sustained in the hit-and-run incident. However, she told One News SVG today that she is grateful to be alive and thankful that her two children , a boy and a girl are safe.
Due to the impact of the incident, the children were delivered via cesarean c-section approximately two weeks ahead of their scheduled arrival.
While she has not yet revealed the names of her children, she mentioned that she plans to name her daughter Cherish and her son Chance.
She also expressed her gratitude to the hospital staff for the love, care, and support they have shown to her at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH).
Although she is grateful for their lives, the businesswoman expressed her frustration at being unable to do much while recovering in a hospital bed.
“It is very frustrating sometimes,” she stated, adding that any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the incident is known, and police are currently investigating the matter.
