National Awards Authority Reaffirms Youth Focus During Visit to Governor-General

The newly elected Executive Committee of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines National Awards Authority (SVG NAA), which administers the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award (DEIA) in the country, has reaffirmed its commitment to youth development and empowerment during a courtesy call on the newly sworn-in Governor-General.
The courtesy call on Governor-General His Excellency Mr. Stalky K. John, KC, took place on January 30th, 2026, at the Office of the Governor-General.
The National Awards Authority stated that the meeting provided an opportunity for the Executive to formally congratulate His Excellency on the assumption of office and to reaffirm the Authority’s commitment to national development, youth empowerment and civic excellence through the Award Programme.

It was noted that discussions during the engagement centred on the role of the National Awards Authority in recognising outstanding service and leadership, as well as the continued impact of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award in fostering personal development, resilience and community engagement among young people across the nation.
The Authority stated that His Excellency welcomed the group and expressed appreciation for the work of the National Awards Authority, noting the importance of initiatives that encourage service, discipline and national pride. The Governor-General also encouraged the continued expansion and strengthening of the Award Programme.
In turn, the SVG National Awards Authority Executive reaffirmed its dedication to working in partnership with national stakeholders to uphold the values of service, excellence and integrity, and to inspire Vincentians, particularly the youth, to contribute meaningfully to the development of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
