Students and staff of the Troumaca Ontario Secondary School and the Petit Bordel Secondary School received several fruit trees on Monday, March 9, 2026, in support of their agricultural programmes.

The trees were donated by the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines National Olympic Committee (SVGNOC) in collaboration with Garden Care Plus as part of activities marking Commonwealth Day in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Parliamentary Representative for North Leeward and Minister of Tourism and Maritime Affairs, Kishore Shallow, witnessed the handover at the two schools. Shallow thanked the SVGNOC and Garden Care Plus for their contribution, noting that agriculture remains an important part of Vincentian life, particularly within communities in North Leeward.

The minister also encouraged students to take agriculture seriously, highlighting the many opportunities available within the sector and the potential for meaningful and rewarding careers.

Among those present at the handover were SVGNOC representative Amanda Glasgow, Managing Director of Garden Care Plus Earl Tash, Principal of Troumaca Ontario Secondary School Rosemary Williams, Senior Agricultural Teacher at Troumaca Ontario Secondary School Osbert Garraway, Agriculture Teacher Kennisha Garraway, and Senior Agriculture Teacher at Petit Bordel Secondary School Frutesha Edwards.
