The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) says it is deeply saddened by the fatal shooting which occurred in the area known as Georgie Gutter, Belair, on the night of January 16, 2026.
In a January 17 press release, the RSVGPF says two young men lost their lives, and another remains hospitalised. These deaths represent a profound loss to their families, the Belair community, and the nation as a whole.
Three men were shot. One died on the spot, and of the two that were hospitalized, one died, making a total of two fatalities from the event.
“While the Police Force mourns with those who are affected, it is also making its position unmistakably clear. The offenders will be rigorously pursued. This act of violence has triggered a focused and determined response. Those responsible are not beyond reach, not beyond identification, and not beyond accountability. The RSVGPF is already moving swiftly, and the investigative process is active, deliberate, and widening,” the release says.
“The Commissioner of Police Mr. Enville Williams has established a special investigative team that is working assiduously on this matter under the direct oversight of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mr. Trevor Bailey, who holds responsibility for crime-related investigations. This investigation will be conducted without distraction, without delay, and without compromise, the release further states.
The rest of the release:
Persons involved in violent crime should understand this: silence will not shield offenders, and time will not work in their favour. Those responsible will be pursued relentlessly, as the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force applies every lawful measure available to identify those involved and bring them to justice.
The RSVGPF is calling on members of the public to assist. Information that may seem insignificant could prove decisive. In the coming days, QR codes will be placed throughout the district, including on utility poles, shops, and other strategic locations, to allow information to be submitted quickly and discreetly. Existing reporting channels remain fully operational.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Criminal Investigations Department / Major Crimes Unit at 456-1810, the Calliaqua Police Station at 458-4200, or Police Control at 457-1211.
The RSVGPF says it will not allow acts of violence to dictate life in our communities. Those who choose this path should be under no illusion: they will be found, they will be confronted, and they will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
