The Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) said it is conducting an investigation into a tragic motor vehicle collision that occurred along the Villa Main Road in the vicinity of the Moonshine Bar and Restaurant.
In a December 13 press release, the RSVGPF said: “Preliminary reports indicate that the incident took place at approximately 2:45 PM and involved a motor car and a truck. Both the driver of the motor car and a passenger sustained injuries and were transported to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH) for medical treatment”.
“Tragically, a minor succumbed to injuries sustained in the collision, despite efforts to provide medical treatment at the hospital. A post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death,” the release stated.
Dead is 14-year-old Reshonna Thompson, a 3rd-form student of the St. Vincent Girls’ High School. She was also a resident of Diamond.
Police said the condition of the driver is unclear at this time as they continue to receive medical care.
The RSVGPF said it is appealing to members of the public who may have witnessed the incident or possess any information that could assist the investigation to come forward.

The RSVGPF said it extends its condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time.
Meanwhile the St. Vincent Girls’ High School (GHS) has also released a statement on the student’s tragic passing.
“It is with deep sadness that we announce the tragic passing of Reshonna Thompson, a 14-year-old student from the village of Diamond, who was in Form 3 at the St. Vincent Girls’ High School. She was involved in a vehicle accident with her aunt earlier today. Tragically, Reshonna lost her life, and her aunt is currently in critical condition,” the GHS said.
“Reshonna was a cherished member of Headmistress House, where she was instrumental in writing the house chants, bringing unity and spirit to her peers. She also served as the Secretary for the school’s Student Council, known for her dedication and leadership,” the GHS added.
“On behalf of the entire St. Vincent Girls’ High School community, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Thompson family during this incredibly difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with her aunt, as well as her family and friends. We ask that you keep them in your prayers, especially as they navigate through this unimaginable loss,” the school said.
The all-girls secondary school which ranks number one for CXC CSEC passes each year said: “Please join us in praying for healing and strength for her aunt, the grieving family, and the entire community affected by this devastating loss. May they find comfort and support in each other during this trying time”.
The incident marks the second road fatality for the day.
Early in the morning Olando ‘Lando’ Davis, a 31-year-old conductor of Richland Park, died at the scene after the bus in which he was travelling ran off the road in the Point/Old Sandy Bay Area and plunged into a bank.
