By Press Release. Updated 10:44 a.m., Sunday, April 12, 2026, Atlantic Standard Time (GMT-4).

A vibrant new animated film is capturing hearts and sparking important conversations about education and skills development across St.Vincent and the Grenadines.

Created by educator, TVET advocate, and children’s author Pearlette Primus Hannaway, the film introduces audiences to Nyla, a curious and adventurous eight year old girl who discovers the endless possibilities within Technical Vocational Education and Training ( TVET). Through colorful storytelling and engaging characters, the animation highlights careers in areas such as construction, hospitality, agriculture, and technology; bringing them to life in a way that resonates with children and families alike.

The animated film is part of the growing series; ‘ Nyla the TVET Explorer’, which aims to inspire a new generation to explore skills based careers from an early age.

For too long, TVET has been stigmatized. Through Nyla, Primus Hannaway intends to create something that Caribbean children could connect with, something that shows them that their talents whether practical or creative, are valuable and powerful.

The release of Part 1 of the film comes ahead of the launch of two Nyla storybooks scheduled for May 30th. Together, the book and animation form part of a broader initiative to introduce children to hands on learning, critical thinking, team work and real world problem solving skills.

Educators locally, regionally and internationally have already begun to show interest in the project for it’s innovative approach. By combining storytelling with animation, the initiative creates an immersive learning experience that not only entertains but also educates.

Beyond its immediate impact, the Nyla series carries a deeper mission. A portion of proceeds from the sale of the books will support primary schools interested in establishing TVET clubs, helping to create early exposure to skills training in classrooms across the country.

Nyla is positioned as more than just a character, the Nyla series is a movement aimed at reshaping the future of TVET.

With it’s strong message and creative delivery, Nyla the TVET Explorer animated film stands as a powerful reminder: each child has a talent and with the right opportunities, those talents can shape a brighter future.
