A baby boy named Shiloh is the first Vincentian child born in 2025 at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH).

He arrived at midday, following the birth of another baby, Charles Dudley, who was born to an American couple.

Shiloh’s mother, Romansia Ollivierre, hails from Rose Hall/Troumaca in St. Vincent. His father is from a foreign country.

Ms. Ollivierre, who works on a cruise ship and has been in St. Vincent since her pregnancy began, shared with One News SVG that the pregnancy was unplanned.

“It wasn’t planned, but from the moment I found out I was pregnant, I accepted it,” Ms. Ollivierre stated.

She mentioned that she has four children, all boys, and Shiloh is her fourth son. Reflecting on her labor experience, she described it as challenging but expressed gratitude for the support she received from the hospital staff.

“I was relieved that he was finally out because labor was very long. Plus he went a bit over the time, so I was so ready,” the mother said.

“The labouring process was very difficult, but I felt very comfortable with the treatment from the staff,” she said.

According to The Bump, Shiloh is a gender-neutral name of Hebrew origin, meaning “tranquil,” “He whose it is.” This spiritual title is also the name of the place where Israelites used to live and assemble before Judah.
