SVG Recalls Key Foreign Diplomats, Signals Policy Reset on Investment and Diaspora Affairs

By Val Matthias. Updated 7:43 p.m., Sunday, January 4, 2026, Atlantic Standard Time (GMT-4).
The Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has recalled its foreign diplomats and will replace the Executive Director of Invest SVG as part of a strategic policy shift announced by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Foreign Investment and Diaspora Affairs, Dwight Fitzgerald Bramble.
The Minister said the decision is intended to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Ministry, align leadership with new policy priorities, enhance investor confidence, expand trade and investment opportunities, and improve the contribution of the Vincentian diaspora to national development.
Those recalled include Her Excellency Andrea Bowman, Ambassador to the Republic of China (Taiwan), who represented SVG in bilateral relations with Taipei; His Excellency Cenio Lewis, High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, who managed Commonwealth ties and assisted Vincentians in Britain; His Excellency Ellsworth John, Ambassador to the Republic of Cuba, who oversaw cooperation in areas such as health and education; Her Excellency Inga Rhonda King, Permanent Representative to the United Nations, who advanced SVG’s positions in multilateral negotiations; and Mr. Rondy McIntosh, Consul General in New York, who provided consular services to Vincentians abroad and promoted diaspora engagement in the United States.

The Ministry also confirmed that Mr. Glen Beache will be replaced as Executive Director of Invest SVG, the state agency responsible for attracting and facilitating foreign investment. The changes are expected to take effect by the end of February.
As the government moves ahead with these recalls and leadership changes, attention will now turn to who will be appointed to fill the posts. The question of whether the new representatives will be qualified and trusted is already being raised in public discourse. While Minister of Public Service St. Clair Leacock has previously underscored the importance of confidence and competence in leadership during parliamentary debates, he has not issued a specific statement on this latest round of diplomatic changes. Observers will be watching closely to see if the government’s selections align with its stated policy goals of strengthening institutional capacity, boosting investor confidence, and deepening diaspora engagement.
