A Vincentian animated educational series focused on Technical and Vocational, Education and Training (TVET) continues its rollout with a new episode highlighting career opportunities in the tourism and hospitality sector.

Created by Senior Education Officer for TVET, Pearlette Primus Hannaway, the project forms part of the wider Nyla and the Treasure of Talents educational series.

Through storytelling, animation, and exploration, the series highlights career pathways in the tourism and hospitality sector, including culinary arts, housekeeping and hotel operations, event services, and customer relations and professionalism.

The latest release, Nyla Explores: Adventures in Hotels and Resorts of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, follows young explorer Nyla and members of her TVET Club as they continue their learning journey across the country.

In this episode, the group visits key tourism and hospitality locations, beginning with Grenadine House in Kingstown, where they are introduced to various aspects of hotel operations and customer service.

Throughout the animation, students engage with industry professionals and gain exposure to workplace environments. In one scene, Chef Kim tells the group, “Hospitality is art. And food is one of our finest canvases.”

The production also incorporates elements of local history and heritage. At Grenadine House, a staff member explains, “This building once housed colonial officials. But today, we host travellers from all over the world.”

According to project information, the series is designed to strengthen awareness of TVET and highlight opportunities within the tourism industry.

Educators locally and regionally have reportedly endorsed the Nyla series for its interactive and culturally relevant approach to learning.

The initiative encourages young people to view their talents, creativity and practical skills as pathways to future careers while promoting awareness of national industries.

Additional instalments are expected as Nyla and the TVET Club continue their exploration of careers and life skills across St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Books linked to the series are scheduled to become available locally from May 30.
