Assistant Commissioner of Police, Trevor Bailey announced on Monday that 95 percent of the murder victims in St. Vincent and the Grenadines were persons known criminally to the police.

Mr. Bailey was at a December 16 press conference responding to a question from a journalist about citizen safety and security.

So far for 2024, this country has recorded 53 homicides just two shy of the record breaking 55 recorded in 2023.

At the press conference hosted by the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force, Mr. Bailey joined with commissioner Police Enville Williams to say that citizens should feel safe.

He reiterated, however, the commissioner’s plans to strengthen partnerships with local state agencies such as the Customs Department to intercept weapons being illegally brought into the country.

Here is the excerpt from his presentation from his response to the general question.
