The call for applications for the 2026 Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme is now open to nationals of St. Vincent & the Grenadines (SVG), Japan’s Embassy based in Trinidad and Tobago announced on Friday.

The Embassy said the JET Programme is a prestigious international initiative sponsored by the Government of Japan, offering nationals of St. Vincent & the Grenadines that hold a Bachelor’s degree the opportunity to live and work in Japan as an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT).

The programme promotes cultural exchange, professional development, and people-to-people diplomacy.

“Since 2013, nationals from St. Vincent and the Grenadines have taken part on the JET Programme. Their commitment and enthusiasm have greatly contributed to Japan’s educational landscape and have helped strengthen the long-standing friendship between Japan and St. Vincent and the Grenadines,” the Embassy said.

“The selected participant will initially serve for one year. This can be renewed for up to three years based on their performance and may be extended for up to five years,” the Embassy added.

The Application Period is January 16, 2026 – March 13, 2026. There will be no extensions.
