Staffing Company Sends Anesthesiologists to Haiti

26 January 2010

BEVERLY HILLS, Mich., Jan. 26 /PRNewswire/ — National Anesthesia Services is sending out a call for volunteer anesthesia providers to join their Haiti Anesthesia Relief program and go to Haiti to provide assistance to the victims of the earthquake disaster as soon as February 1st said National president Stephen Read.

”We have a unique situation that can vastly aid the medical personnel in this catastrophe,” said Read.  “We have a data base of over 6,000 anesthesia providers that we work with and we realized that we had an opportunity to pull together a large number of willing volunteers to join the relief efforts in Haiti.”

Read’s offices were quickly turned into a mobilizing unit, sending out email blasts and making phone calls.  The response was fast and heartwarming.  “Over 80 providers responded the first day!” said Read.  “People really want to help and we have Anesthesiologists and Nurse Anesthetists from all over the country offering to go, many giving up their vacation time or personal leave to help.”

Haiti Anesthesia Relief, as the program is now called, is ready to send anesthesia providers to work with the medical teams of Partners in Health, Mercy Ships, and Heartland for Haiti Birth Center.  National Anesthesia Services is currently working out the logistics to determine need, provide the necessary credentialing and arrange travel.
