Police Investigate Break-in at SVG Community College’s Villa Campus

Police are investigating a major break-in at the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College (SVGCC) in Villa after several areas of the institution’s main campus were reportedly targeted over the weekend.

The incident was discovered on Monday morning as staff returned to work at the start of the new week. Initial assessments indicate that multiple sections of the campus were affected.

Preliminary information suggests that IT servers were removed from one area of the campus, while the college’s cafeteria was also broken into and a cash register reportedly stolen. Officials are continuing to assess the full extent of the damage and determine whether any additional items are missing.

The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force has launched an investigation into the incident. No arrests have been announced, and investigators have not disclosed whether they have identified any suspects.

According to reports, the Villa campus will be closed for the rest of the week due to the incident.

The break-in has raised fresh concerns about the security of public institutions following a series of similar incidents in recent weeks. Earlier this month, the Lowmans Leeward Anglican School was broken into, with funds raised for the school’s graduation activities reportedly stolen. 

During the same weekend, the Stubbs Poly Clinic was also targeted in a separate break-in.

The circumstances surrounding the SVGCC incident remain under investigation, and authorities are expected to provide further updates as enquiries continue.
