Foreign national killed in Canouan, Police confirm

The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) said it has launched an investigation following the fatal shooting of a foreign national in Canouan late on Wednesday night.

According to a police press release issued on Friday, officers responded to reports of gunfire at Gym Hill, Canouan, at approximately 11:30 p.m. on June 24.

Police said that upon arrival, they discovered Daniel Vettrino, a 37-year-old Technical Services Manager of Colombia/Scotland, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his body. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the District Medical Officer.

The RSVGPF said a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

Investigators have not disclosed a motive for the shooting, and enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.

Police are appealing to anyone with information that could assist the investigation to contact the Major Crime Unit at 456-1810 or Police Control at 457-1211.

The RSVGPF also extended its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

No reports about arrests have been announced in connection with the killing.
