Police are investigating a shooting that left a man hospitalised in Chateaubelair during the early hours of Monday.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) said officers responded to reports of a shooting in the vicinity of Plan Village, Chateaubelair, at about 1:00 a.m. on August 17.
When police arrived at the scene, they found a man suffering from what appeared to be gunshot injuries.
The injured man was taken to the Chateaubelair Smart Hospital for emergency treatment before being transferred to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, where he remains warded and is receiving medical care.
Investigators processed the scene and have launched an investigation to determine exactly what led to the shooting.
The RSVGPF said it is withholding certain identifying and evidential details because the investigation is active and sensitive. The measure, it noted, is intended to protect the integrity of the investigative process. Further information will be released when it is considered appropriate.

Police are appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident, or who may have information that could assist the investigation, to contact the Officer in Charge of the Criminal Investigations Department/Major Crime Unit at 456-1810 or 457-1211, extensions 4837 or 4839. Information can also be provided by calling 999 or 911.
The police have assured the public that all information received will be treated in the strictest confidence.
