Residents of St. Vincent and the Grenadines who need to contact relatives and friends in Venezuela can now do so free of charge after Flow announced a temporary zero-rating initiative in response to the recent earthquakes affecting the South American country.

The measure, announced by Flow’s parent company, Liberty Caribbean, took effect immediately and will remain in place until July 6. It applies to eligible prepaid and postpaid mobile customers making voice calls to Venezuela.

The announcement follows the powerful earthquakes that struck Venezuela on 24 June 2026, prompting the government to declare a state of emergency. International media reported that the seismic event consisted of a magnitude 7.2 earthquake followed about 39 seconds later by a stronger magnitude 7.5 tremor, a rare phenomenon described by seismologists as an earthquake “doublet”. The earthquakes affected at least eight states and territories, including the Capital District, where Caracas is located, damaging buildings, roads and other infrastructure and triggering search and rescue operations.

Chief Commercial Officer of Liberty Caribbean, Britta Reinhardt, said the initiative is intended to help families remain connected during a time of uncertainty.

“When communities are affected by natural disasters, the first instinct for many people is to reach the ones they love. In moments like these, a simple phone call can bring reassurance, hope and comfort. We want our customers to know that, during this difficult time, staying connected to family and friends in Venezuela should be one less thing to worry about.”

Liberty Caribbean, which operates the Flow, Liberty Business and BTC brands across the region, said the support initiative is available in all of its operating markets, including St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Reinhardt added that the company understands the impact such disasters have on families across the Caribbean.

“As a Caribbean company, we know the uncertainty and anxiety that follows events like these. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the earthquakes, and particularly with our colleagues, customers and the Venezuelan community across our region who are anxiously checking on loved ones. This is a moment when connection matters most.”

The company said the zero-rated initiative covers mobile voice calls placed to Venezuela by eligible prepaid and postpaid customers during the designated support period, which ends on July 6.
