St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ junior boys’ team captured the Caribbean Junior Squash team title, while the country finished third overall at the 2026 Caribbean Junior Squash Championships (Junior CASA), held from July 10–16, 2026, in Tortola, British Virgin Islands.
According to a media release from the SVG Squash Association, the Vincentian boys entered the team competition as the top seed and delivered a series of strong performances to secure the title.
The championship-winning squad comprised Zavin Garrick, Savante Padmore, Ethan Webster, Jayden George, Aiden DeFreitas and Jaydon Williams.
SVG dominated the group stage, recording victories over Jamaica, Barbados and Guyana before defeating the Cayman Islands 4-2 in the semi-finals to advance to the championship match.
In the final, Garrick gave St. Vincent and the Grenadines the opening advantage with an 11-2, 11-0, 11-4 victory over Jude Gobin. Jayden George and Jaydon Williams followed with straight-games victories over Justin Ten Pow and Joshua Verwey respectively, before Aiden DeFreitas sealed the team title with an 11-8, 10-12, 11-2, 11-9 win over Shiloh Asregado.
The SVG Squash Association described the achievement as a major accomplishment, stating in its release that the result secured “SVG’s place in the record books with a first ever Caribbean team title.”
The boys’ team victory came during a strong overall showing by the Vincentian contingent. Jayden George won the Boys’ Under-17 singles title, while Zavin Garrick claimed the Boys’ Under-11 championship. Jaydon Williams added a bronze medal in the Boys’ Under-19 division.
Additional honours came through the plate and consolation competitions, with Aiden DeFreitas winning the Boys’ Under-17 Plate, Savante Padmore claiming the Boys’ Under-13 Plate and Ethan Webster taking the Boys’ Under-15 Consolation title. SVG also finished second in the boys’ doubles competition.
The girls’ team of Caeli George, Naira Skye-John and Ciara George finished ninth at the championships. Combined with the boys’ results, St. Vincent and the Grenadines secured third place overall in the regional competition.
The Caribbean Junior Squash Championships, commonly known as Junior CASA, is the region’s premier junior squash tournament, featuring individual, doubles and team competitions involving young players from across the Caribbean.
For St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the 2026 championships produced a Caribbean boys’ team title, two individual champions, a boys’ doubles silver medal and a third-place overall finish.
Fresh from capturing the Caribbean Boys’ Under-17 title, Jayden George will now represent St. Vincent and the Grenadines at the World Junior Squash Championships in Canada from July 20–31, 2026, where he will compete against many of the world’s leading junior players.
The SVG Squash Association thanked the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Olympic Committee, Bank of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Joel Richards, Tus-T Water Inc. and Minister of Sports, Kaschaka Cupid, for supporting the team’s participation.
The association added that coach Jules Snagg and the players will now look ahead to defending the Caribbean boys’ team title in 2027.
