The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) has launched an investigation into the fatal shooting of a Rockies man on Thursday night, marking another homicide in the country.
The deceased has been identified as Akeem Ferdinand, a 30-year-old labourer of Rockies.
According to a police press release issued on Friday, officers responded to reports of multiple gunshots in the community at approximately 8:05 p.m. on August 6.
When police arrived at the scene, they found Ferdinand with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds about his body. A medical practitioner later attended the scene and pronounced him dead.
Police said a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
Investigators are continuing enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting, and no further details have been released at this time.
The RSVGPF has not indicated whether any suspects have been identified and has appealed for the investigation to be allowed to proceed.
