A post-mortem examination has confirmed that 61-year-old Selwyn Joseph, also known as “Millie”, of Hamilton, Bequia, died from a stroke after he was found dead in Edinboro, West Kingstown, days after he was reported missing.

The Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) said the examination, conducted on Thursday, July 9, 2026, determined that Mr Joseph died as a result of a right ischaemic stroke. Investigators also found no evidence to suggest that his death resulted from foul play.

Mr Joseph had been reported missing after leaving the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital on Thursday, June 25, 2026, while receiving medical attention. Following his disappearance, the Ministry of Health, Wellness, Environmental Health and Energy issued a public appeal on Friday, June 26, 2026, stating that he was disoriented and may have become lost.

His body was discovered at approximately 11:10 a.m. on Saturday, July 4, 2026, in a bushy area below Fort Charlotte in Edinboro after police responded to a report from a member of the public.

The deceased was later positively identified by a close relative.

When Mr Joseph’s body was initially found, police reported that there were no immediate signs of foul play and said a post-mortem examination would be carried out to determine the exact cause of death.

The findings have now officially confirmed that Mr Joseph died from natural causes.

The RSVGPF extended condolences to Mr Joseph’s relatives and friends as they mourn his passing.
