Vincentian Entrepreneurs Featured at Sustainability Expo in Taiwan

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines was showcased on the international stage in Taiwan, as local entrepreneurs were featured at a major sustainability exhibition in Taipei.

The Embassy of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in Taiwan promoted the country and highlighted the creativity, talent and entrepreneurship of Vincentians during the fifth Asia-Pacific Forum and Exposition for Sustainability, known as SDG-Asia.

The event was held from the 27th to the 29th of August at the Taipei World Trade Center and brought together representatives from government, business, education, healthcare and civil society.

Among the Vincentians featured were entrepreneur Alshika Latham, founder of Shika’s Treats, a business specialising in cakes, cupcakes and traditional Caribbean desserts; Josuane Edwards, founder of Hair by Jusone; and Shanika Pratt, founder of S-Class Stylist, both of whom operate businesses offering hairstyling services and hair-care products.

The Embassy thanked the entrepreneurs for their participation, saying their involvement helped create a distinct Vincentian presence at the exhibition while showcasing the skills and enterprise of nationals living and working in Taiwan.

Organisers said the forum provided a platform for participants to exchange ideas, present sustainable initiatives and engage in discussions on sustainable development.

The exhibition was organised by the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy under the theme, “Shape Our Future: Resilience, Innovation, Prosperity.”

The Embassy says it hopes to build on the engagement through future initiatives aimed at advancing sustainable development and increasing the visibility of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines internationally.
