Vincentians Invited to Know Their Rights Through RedRootSVG Campaign

Vincentians are being invited to learn more about their fundamental human rights and responsibilities through a series of community workshops being held across Saint Vincent.

The Community Human Rights Workshop Series, organised by RedRootSVG Inc., is running from July 2026 to May 2027, with workshops scheduled in nine communities across the country.

The initiative is intended to educate, empower and engage citizens while helping them understand their rights, the protections available to them and steps they can take when their rights are violated.

RedRootSVG Inc. said the need for greater awareness has been highlighted by recent incidents of violence, as well as what the organisation describes as a lack of information among some people about their basic human rights.

“Through this campaign, RedRootSVG Inc. aims to help close this information gap by educating communities about their rights and empowering individuals to recognize, protect and advocate for themselves and others,” the organisation said.

In 2026, workshops are scheduled for Diamond Estate on September 26, Rose Hall on October 24, Georgetown on November 21 and Barrouallie on December 19.

The series will continue into 2027, with workshops scheduled for Chateaubelair on January 23, Paul’s Avenue on February 20, Fancy on March 27, Largo Heights on April 24 and North Union on May 22.

According to RedRootSVG Inc., the workshops will provide opportunities for education, advocacy and community empowerment, with the aim of promoting and upholding human rights.

RedRootSVG Inc. describes itself as an organisation that advocates for victims and survivors of sexual abuse, violence and inequality in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
