Four killed in Green Hill mass shooting

Four people were killed and two others injured in a mass shooting in Green Hill on Friday night (September 25), in what is one of the country’s deadliest gun attacks.

Preliminary reports indicate that gunmen arrived in a vehicle and opened fire on a group of people gathered near a shop. Reports are that those at the scene scattered in an attempt to escape, but several were struck by gunfire.

Among those killed is reportedly a Year Two student of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College’s Division of Arts, Sciences and General Studies.

At least two other people were taken for medical treatment after sustaining gunshot wounds. One suffered a shot in the hand while the other was shot in the stomach. No other details are available regarding their conditions.

The identities of all the victims had not been officially released up to the time of publication.
However, multiple sources have indicated that one of those killed is the son of businessman Stephen King, who was himself shot and killed at his Green Hill home on May 13, 2025.

In that incident, the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force said masked gunmen entered King’s property around midday and shot him multiple times before fleeing. He later died at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.

Friday night’s killings have once again plunged Green Hill into mourning and renewed public concern over the country’s escalating gun violence.

While several people have suggested the latest attack may be linked to ongoing gang-related activity, authorities had not confirmed any motive up to the time of publication. One News SVG has therefore not independently verified those claims.

The shooting comes just over two months after another deadly attack in the capital. On July 17, 2026, three people were fatally shot opposite the Police Barracks in Kingstown after gunmen opened fire in a popular area of the city.

The Friday, September 25, 2026 mass shooting in Green Hill is also the second deadliest mass shooting incident on record in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG). On July 19, 2023, five were killed in the country’s deadliest mass shooting which took place about 8:00 pm in the Harbour Club area of Upper Bay Street, Kingstown. Four persons had died on the spot, one died at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, while one other person was hospitalized following the incident.

The latest incident in Green Hill is expected to intensify calls for stronger action to curb violent crime, as communities continue to grapple with a succession of fatal shootings.

Police are expected to launch an extensive investigation into the Green Hill attack and are appealing to anyone with information that could assist investigators to come forward.
