News Americas, ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada, Thurs. Nov. 5, 2026: Grenada’s ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell, has swept to a landslide victory in the Grenada elections 2026, winning 14 of the country’s 15 parliamentary seats and securing a second consecutive term in government, according to reported results. The opposition New National Party (NNP) held on to just one seat, St. George North West, won by Adrian Joseph.
The result marks a major political achievement for Mitchell, whose party first came to power in June 2022 when it defeated the NNP administration led by former Prime Minister Keith Mitchell. In that election, the NDC won nine seats, ending the NNP’s nine-year run in government. Nov. 5th outcome expands the NDC’s parliamentary representation from nine to 14 seats, a decisive increase in its majority.

The victory also breaks the NDC’s historical pattern of serving only one term in government before losing power, giving the party its first back-to-back win. The NDC previously formed government in 1990 and 2008 but lost the following election on both occasions. It returned to office under Mitchell in 2022, winning nine seats.
This time, the New National Party secured the lone remaining seat with Dr Adrian Joseph of St George North West. The NDC also dominated the popular vote, receiving 37,369 votes, or 61 per cent of valid votes cast.
The NNP polled 22,567 votes, representing 36.84 per cent. The Democratic People’s Movement placed third with 1,189 votes, or 1.94 per cent. The figures give the NDC a popular vote advantage of 14,802 over the NNP. With all 282 polling divisions reporting, turnout stood at 63.3 per cent. A total of 61,460 ballots were cast from an electorate of 97,031 registered voters. Of those ballots, 61,264 were valid and 196 were rejected. A further 145 spoiled ballots were listed separately.
The five other parties collectively received 139 votes. The results remain provisional, pending official recount by the Parliamentary Elections Office.
The renewed mandate gives Mitchell room to press ahead with his administration’s priorities, including economic development, infrastructure, healthcare, education and employment. For the NNP, which governed Grenada for much of the past three decades, the result leaves the party with a single seat in the House of Representatives and a long road to rebuilding.
