
Labourer shot dead in Lowmans Leeward

A 30-year-old man was shot and killed in Lowmans Leeward early Friday morning, prompting a police investigation into the latest fatal shooting in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
The deceased has been identified as Amir Roberts, a labourer of Lowmans Leeward.
According to the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF), the incident occurred at about 6:40 a.m.on Friday, July 24, 2026.
Police said Roberts was walking along the Lowmans Leeward public road when he was approached by an unknown assailant, or assailants, who opened fire, striking him multiple times about the body.
A District Medical Officer later visited the scene and officially pronounced Roberts dead.
Investigators said a post-mortem examination will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death.
His death marks the 28th homicide to date for 2026, and comes after the triple homicide where three men lost their lives in Kingstown last weekend.
The RSVGPF has launched an investigation and is appealing to anyone with information that could assist detectives to come forward.

In a statement, the police also extended condolences to the family and friends of Roberts as investigations continue.
