Barrouallie, Georgetown Residents Can See a Doctor Weekly at SVPPA Mobile Clinic

Doctor and Nurse On Board as SVPPA Mobile Clinic Sets Weekly Stops in Barrouallie, Georgetown
By Admin. Updated 12:38 p.m., Monday, November 2, 2026, Atlantic Standard Time (GMT-4).
Residents of Barrouallie and Georgetown can now see a doctor close to home, without the trip to Kingstown, as the St. Vincent Planned Parenthood Association (SVPPA) has set a fixed weekly schedule for its mobile medical clinic.
According to a flyer circulated by the organisation, the clinic will be in Barrouallie on Mondays and Wednesdays and in Georgetown on Thursdays. On each of those days, it will operate from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The SVPPA has made it clear that the unit is staffed by both a general doctor and a registered nurse. Because a general doctor is on board, the clinic is not limited to sexual and reproductive health. Members of the public are being invited to come in for general health check-ups as well as for sexual and reproductive health support.
The mobile unit, a white truck marked in the association’s pink and purple colours, was officially launched in July 2025 and began active operations on August 6 that year. At the time, the SVPPA said services on board included family planning, testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), counselling and community health education, offered at the association’s standard rates.
The clinic was designed to reach people in remote and underserved communities. For many on the leeward and windward sides of the island, a trip to town for a routine check-up can mean a day off work and paying for transport both ways.
Having a doctor and nurse turn up in their own community on set days takes much of that burden away.
The SVPPA has long held that healthcare should be a right and not a privilege. It is encouraging residents to look out for the unit and make use of its services.
Persons seeking more information may contact the SVPPA office at 1 784 456-1793 or the mobile clinic directly at 1 (784) 494-7267.
